These islands are literally a fly fisherman’s paradise. Every season of the year holds some kind of temptation to tease the ardent fly fisher. Through the winter months British Columbia Steelhead fill the rivers, spring finds the elusive Sea Run Cutthroat searching out Salmon fry, summer holds opportunities for actively feeding, open ocean Salmon and fall is the time of the Coho as they actively enter estuaries and smash well-presented flies...but this featured expedition is specifically about the targeting British Columbia Steelhead!

The pinnacle of success for the west coast river angler, these silver beauties deserve all the respect that they conjure up! Queen Charlotte Island Steelhead reach weights up to 30 pounds with an average of around 12, the Haida Gwaii hold some of the finest wild winter Steelhead runs in the world. Local runs are strong and the places they inhabit are stunning. Once hooked up, these fish will put you to the test using every instinct to throw the hook. Every Queen Charlotte Island Steelhead is a true trophy!

The Queen Charlotte Islands offer some of the finest winter Steelhead fly fishing in the world. The local rivers range in size from small creeks filled with Coastal Cutthroat, year-round, to the long runs of the larger rivers where Steelhead abound throughout the winter months. It is not at all uncommon to tie into a fish exceeding 20 pounds in this system and reports of 30+ pound Steelhead are heard every year! The large numbers of nickel-chrome winter Steelhead start migrating to their home rivers in late October and can found in good numbers right through April. Cutthroat Trout and Dolly Varden will readily swipe a well-presented fly or spinner to keep the day interesting.
